Let's be real. Homeschooling is not always easy. In fact, it rarely is what I would call "easy".
But, there are these moments that make it all worth it now and so many more that come in the non-school moments.
If I look into every day I can usually find several grateful moments. Some are obvious like this one above while some others are a could be perfect moment, even if it is covered in potent slime. But, there was something!
These girls are sisters just 4.5 years separated oldest to youngest. They are sassy, argue, get frustrated and yes...have physical chaos sometimes (ok, a lot) just like every set of sisters I know. But sometimes.... in the midst of school I find these treasured moments which is one of the many reasons I am so grateful for this journey.
Finding gratitude is one of the surest ways to maintain, grow and keep joy as I am teaching one of my girls that right now who is adamant sometimes to just be frustrated with the world. This is a practice we use every day.
Find something specific. Not general.
You can't say I am thankful for my house, my dog and food.
Nope! Try harder. Dig deeper.
Last night when we were talking mine were:
1. Having the whole family sitting together on the couch watching Jingle Jangle on Netflix and laughing and talking.
2. My date lunch with my husband. It is every Friday, but it is literally the book end to my week and we both look forward to it starting Monday. It is like a "High Five! We made it through another one! Good job!!!"
3. Working out that day. I will be honest. I am a super active person and love to get outside, but when it comes to structured "exercise"... not a fan. BUT, I think movement is a great way to start the day so I have been loving these 7 minute workouts. Who knew! There are tons of them on youtube from all different kinds of people doing different things. I committed to doing them and I am stickin' to it!
When you find your gratitude everything else falls into place so much easier and you can face the big stuff because you have a pocket of diamonds you have been collecting!
What are your diamonds today friends? I hope your pockets are heavy with them!
I believe in you!
I am guessing you have a family if you have stopped by here and if you do, chances are you are within that first 6570 day window of parenting and building their future.
I would love to share what is happening in our community with you weekly and get to know you more!
